Niagara Webstation Certificate Errors – Cannot Load Help

Problem

Niagara Workbench throws a "Cannot Load Help Files" error when opening the help window or accessing webstation graphics. Error often appears as a locked icon or security warning.

Root Cause

Unsigned or untrusted certificates in the Workbench certificate manager, common when running on corporate domain computers or after platform/browser updates.

Solution

1. Open Workbench and go to Tools → Certificate Manager

2. Look at the Allowed Hosts tab for certificates with a red shield/X icon (these are unapproved)

3. Right-click the red-flagged certificate and select Approve

4. If a single bad cert won't approve:

   • Select it and click Regenerate Certificate (or similar "recreate" button)
   • Restart Workbench after regeneration

5. For persistent issues on Windows 11 with corporate domain:

   • Add your controller's IP/hostname to the Windows Java Control Panel Site Exception List
   • Search "configure java" in Windows search, open Java Control Panel, go to Security tab, and add the controller address

6. Once certificates are approved, refresh the help window or restart Workbench
