Problem

New to Metasys graphics and unsure how to build space or equipment graphics in the MUI (Metasys User Interface).

Solution

1. Understand Space vs. Equipment Graphics

• Space Graphics: Represent physical locations (rooms, floors, building sections)
• Equipment Graphics: Show individual devices (AHU, VAV, pump, boiler)
• Both can be interactive (click to drill down to more detail)

2. Create a Space (Room) Graphic

• In Metasys UI, go to Graphics Manager (usually in Admin menu)
• Click New Space
• Define the space name (e.g., "Conference Room 301") and building hierarchy
• Upload or import a floorplan image (PNG, JPG, or PDF)
• Assign equipment to this space (link VAVs, thermostats to the room)

3. Create Equipment Graphics

• In Graphics Manager, click New Equipment Graphic
• Select equipment type (AHU, VAV, Pump, Fan Coil, etc.)
• Choose from templates or start blank
• Add control points (setpoint slider, mode selector, command button)
• Bind each control to actual Metasys points

4. Bind Graphics to Real Points

• In the equipment graphic editor, right-click each control widget
• Select Bind Point and choose the actual Metasys point
• Verify binding by clicking Test to see live data

5. Set Permissions

• Define which users can view, modify, or command through graphics
• Operators might only view; technicians can adjust setpoints; admins can reboot devices

6. Publish and Test

• Save graphics and make them visible in the Metasys navigation tree
• Test on actual client devices (PC, tablet)
• Verify responsiveness and data binding on slow networks
