Problem

After downloading a new archive to an SNE/NAE with SCT, the engine remains offline in the Site Director tree.

Root Cause

Local Site Director field changed to hostname that cannot be resolved, device stuck in bad pairing state, or archive IP/name mismatch.

Solution

1. Check Local Site Director Setting

• Log directly into the SNE/NAE
• Open its Network or Focus view
• Check Local Site Director field

2. Use IP Address Instead of Hostname

• Change Local Site Director to the IP address of the Site Director (not just hostname)
• Save and wait a few minutes

3. Re-Pair with Site Director

• If pairing icon remains incorrect
• Use Tools → Pair NxE with Site Director from the Site Director and retry

4. For Migrated Devices (NAE → SNE)

If you get pairing errors during migration:

• Temporarily promote the SNE to Site Director
• Remove the old NAE object from database
• Demote SNE back under the Site Director
• Re-pair

5. Verify Network Connectivity

• Ping the engine from Site Director by IP and hostname
• Confirm name resolution or adjust hosts/DNS as required
