Problem

SNE shows consistently high CPU usage and sluggish response; trends and graphics are slow.

Root Cause

Too much data being processed for engine capability: oversized database, excessive polling, or too many trend/event objects.

Solution

1. Inspect CPU Usage

• Check CPU Usage attribute on the engine
• Values above 50% for extended periods indicate overload

2. Reduce Database Size

• Archive or delete unused trends and events
• Compact the database after cleanup

3. Lower Polling Rates

• Reduce polling rates for non-critical points
• Rely on COV/COS (Change of Value/State) where possible to cut traffic

4. Scale Appropriately

• If site scale has grown significantly
• Offload some work to additional engines
• Upgrade hardware per JCI sizing guidance
